EGGMAN SCRAMBLES NEW YORK BROADCAST TO UNVEIL NEW 'VNI' SERVICE

(NEW YORK, NY) - March 24, 2005 - The firebrand media watchdog group NEWSBREAKERS rolled out its new Visual News Interpretation (VNI) service Monday in midtown Manhattan.

The service condenses live television reporting into a single, visual representation of a news story's central narrative. The process manages to distill a story down into its most clichéd element and presents that in the shortest amount of time possible. Plans to beta test VNI service in a number of other news markets are currently in the negotiation phase.

NEWSBREAKERS introduced the innovative service this week on NY1, a Time Warner news station serving cable customers in New York City. During a live broadcast of a story about a lottery mix-up, a man sporting an "I Love New York" apron appeared behind a NY1 reporter and crushed eggs over his head. Video of the event is available at www.newsbreakers.org/video.htm.

"When a mob gathers because of a bungled lottery, that's a no-brainer. It's a story about getting egg on your face," the Eggman said.

"Television is a visual medium; people don't listen to the words. They don't want the paper read to them on live TV," said NEWSBREAKER J.D. Rozz. "Guys like Eggman take television journalism to the next level."

NEWSBREAKERS is a nonpartisan media watchdog group. It offers comment and critique on the role of television news in informing the public. The group relies on parody and non-traditional media transformations. Members of the group are rumored to work exclusively in the fast food industry.

The group is currently planning future events and accepting applications.
