MEDIA ATTACK CAUGHT ON TAPE; NEWSBREAKER RECOVERING
(HOPKINTON, MA) - MAY 11, 2005 - A video has surfaced of two television workers, at least one of whom is from Boston's WHDH (Ch. 7), viciously attacking a member of the pacifist media watchdog group NEWSBREAKERS.
Upon witnessing a fallen runner at this year's Boston Marathon, media consolidation protestor Invisible Suit Guy, put his activist work aside to summon help for the injured man. Attempts to rally a local news crew were met with a blow to Invisible Suit Guy's head, knocking off his gold swim cap. The television workers ignored the downed runner. The attack occurred on the Hopkinton town green, 26 miles from Boston, the birthplace of the American Revolution.
"I'm bruised, but my belief in the basic decency of TV news is absolutely battered," said Invisible Suit Guy while sipping weak green tea intended to calm his nerves. "They threatened to have me arrested; I don't even know how they saw me."
"Apparently, in New England, speech on the town common is either illegal, or reserved for those with the biggest soap box," said NEWSBREAKER Norm Weathers.
NEWSBREAKERS is a nonpartisan media watchdog group. It offers comment and critique on the role of television news in informing the public. The group relies on parody and non-traditional media transformations. Members of the group are rumored to work exclusively in the fast food industry.
The group is currently planning future events and accepting applications.
